Do I need prior yoga experience before enrolling?
Nope. You do not need to be advanced, flexible, or able to do complex postures to enroll.
We recommend that students have at least 3-6 months of practice before beginning training. What matters most is commitment, curiosity, and a sincere desire to grow.
This training is designed to meet you where you are while steadily expanding your confidence, skill, and understanding of yoga beyond the physical postures.
Is this program Yoga Alliance certified?
Yes. Mineral City Yoga is a Registered Yoga School (RYS) with Yoga Alliance, and graduates are eligible to register as a RYT-200 upon successful completion.
Our curriculum meets and exceeds Yoga Alliance standards while also preserving the depth and integrity of traditional yoga teachings.
Will I be prepared to teach professionally after this training?
Yes.
By the end of the program you will have:
Led multiple supervised practice classes
Received personalized feedback
Built at least 4 complete class sequences
Practiced cueing, adjustments, and class structuring
Developed your authentic teaching voice
Our goal is not simply certification, but confidence. You will graduate knowing how to safely and skillfully guide a class.
What if I don’t want to teach?
Many students enroll to deepen their personal practice rather than pursue a teaching career. This training will transform your understanding of:
Asana
Breathwork
Meditation
Yoga philosophy
Anatomy and biomechanics
Subtle body theory
Whether you teach or not, you will gain a lifelong framework for practice and self-study.
What does the curriculum include?
Our 200-hour training includes:
Asana alignment and intelligent sequencing
Functional anatomy and biomechanics
Pranayama and breath science
Meditation methodology
Yoga philosophy (Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, foundational texts)
Teaching methodology and professional development
Ethics and scope of practice
The subtle body and energetic systems
Training format is every other weekend (see dates section of the YTT page)
What is the time commitment outside of training weekends?
Students should expect approximately 1-3 hours per week outside of scheduled training for:
Taking classes
Reading assignments
Practice teaching
Personal practice
Reflection and journaling
Consistent engagement between sessions is essential for integration.
How is student competency evaluated?
Graduation requires:
Attendance of 14/16 of training Days (with private makeups for days missed)
Completion of reading assignments
Successful practicum teaching demonstration
Participation in peer teaching labs
Passing Written test (mostly multiple choice)
Our evaluation process is supportive, not intimidating. The intention is to develop skill and clarity, not perfection.
What makes this training different?
Mineral City Yoga’s training emphasizes:
Depth over trend (We teach for the Lineage of Sri Vidya Tantra)
Mentorship over mass enrollment (intimate class sizes)
Traditional asana taught with knowledge of modern biomechanics
A singular philosophical focus (Yoga Sutras)
Direct feedback from senior teachers
Our groups are intentionally limited to ensure personal attention and meaningful connection.
You are not just earning a certificate. You are joining a lineage of teachers.
What is the investment and are payment plans available?
The full tuition for the 200-hour program is $3499.
Early enrollment tuition is $3249 (if applicable).
A deposit of $1500 is required to reserve your spot.
Payment plans are available, and we are happy to work with you to create a manageable structure. We make it a point not to let financial challenges limit our students ability to make progress in their journey
What support is available after graduation?
Graduates are invited to:
Attend select sessions of future 200-hour trainings
Enroll in our 300-hour advanced training
Apply to teach at Mineral City Yoga (as opportunities arise)
Participate in alumni workshops and continuing education
We believe teacher training is the beginning of a relationship, not the end.
