
Vishoka Meditation 🕊️
Based on the Vishoka Meditation tradition of the Himalayan Institute, this class offers a gentle and accessible pathway into meditation, relaxation, and self-discovery. Each class begins with a 15-minute satsang, a spiritual discussion exploring yogic philosophy and practical wisdom for everyday life.
Following satsang, you'll be guided through gentle movement and stretching designed to release tension, improve comfort in the body, and prepare the mind for meditation. We then practice the Preliminary Relaxing Practices of the Himalayan tradition before settling into a seated meditation. The entire experience is designed to calm the nervous system, quiet the mind, and cultivate greater peace, clarity, and inner balance.
This class is appropriate for all levels and is especially beneficial for those seeking stress reduction, relaxation, spiritual growth, or a supportive introduction to meditation. Vishoka is a Sanskrit word meaning "free from sorrow," reflecting the heart of this practice: discovering the peace, steadiness, and contentment that already exist within us.
We provide bolsters, blankets, and other supportive props. You are also welcome to bring any personal items that help you feel comfortable, especially a blanket, shawl, or warm layers, as body temperature naturally decreases during deep relaxation and meditation.
This class is taught by one of our founders, Joe Falco, and shares many of the practices that have personally transformed his life and practice.
